The Portrayal of Jews in Opera: This talk reviews operas in which Jewish characters are the central subject or Jewish characters are part of the story or plot. Stereotyping of Jews was a common practice in the operas of Reinhard Keiser, Heinrich Marschner, Haydn and Richard Strauss. A special discussion is required to describe the operas of Richard Wagner.
