Rabbi Jarrod Grover

Rabbi Jarrod Grover serves as the senior spiritual leader and mara d'atra of our synagogue. He came to us as an assistant at 28 years old and upon appointment in 2012, became the youngest Senior Rabbi of any large Jewish congregation in North America.

A bilingual native of Montreal, Rabbi Grover went on to receive his bachelor's degree in Economics at Princeton University. His M.A. and rabbinic ordination are from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America where he served as president of the students' organization.

Rabbi Grover speaks regularly from the pulpit, teaches inside and outside of the synagogue, and distributes a weekly e-mail on Jewish topics with over a thousand recipients. He is considered a leading voice for traditional Conservative Judaism, which stresses religious continuity rather than change.

He currently serves as Religious and Ethical Advisor to Jewish Free Loan Toronto (www.jewishfreeloan.ca), Vice-President of the Rabbinical Assembly of Ontario, and is a Rabbinic Cabinet member of Israel Bonds and the Jewish Federations of North America. He has received numerous fellowships and awards, including a leadership award from the Government of Canada and accreditation by the Canadian Association for Pastoral Practice and Education. In the winter of 2014, he was invited by the Prime Minister to join him on his official delegation to Israel.

A passionate teacher of Judaism and a strong Zionist, our rabbi’s leadership vision has grown the synagogue and led it to receive numerous awards and accolades for its outstanding programming and commitment to the community.

He is married to Carmela, with whom he shares three children and a Boston Terrier named Kobi.
